chapter 23,24,25,26

Chapter23
Gloria Dump told Opal to save the egg-salad sandwiches; the preacher grabbed the punch and Sweetie Pie grabbed the pictures. They put it all in the kitchen and began laughing and talking. Gertrude, the bird, squawked, "Dog". Opal saw that Winn-Dixie was gone! The Dewberry boys showed up and she said "Hey", but then ran out to look for her dog.

Chapter24
Opal and the Preacher started yelling for Winn-Dixie and it was raining so hard. The hard rain made it easier for Opal to cry. Opal started thinking about 10 things she could write on a poster about Winn-Dixie if they didn't find him. When the preacher said they had to give up, Opal yelled at him and asked if he gave up on her Mama too. He started crying and told her he missed her every day and would miss Winn-Dixie too but they kept looking. He said he was glad her Mama left Opal with him.

Chapter 25
Opal and the preacher started walking back to Gloria Dump's house and they heard music and singing. They looked in the kitchen and saw everyone having a good time! Opal shouted that they didn't find Winn-Dixie! Then Gloria told her that the dog had been there under her bed the whole time.

Chapter 26
Opal went outside for a minute and started talking like her Mama was right beside her. She talked about her heart being full and that she would still miss her but not as much as she had before. She went to look at the tree she planted and it had grown; she was on her knees. Dunlap Dewberry came over and helped her up and this surprised her! They raced to the house and Opal won! All the people in the book started singing and eating Littmus Lozenges and having a fun party.
